A company
limited by guarantee does not have shares, but each Trustee
(Director) 'guarantees' the company by committing to a nominal
liability if things go wrong.
Trustees/Directors may not receive a salary for performing
their duties.
To
form a 'guarantee' company you only need to tell us your contact
details
- the Objects' (aims) of your organisation
- the address you will use for your Registered Office.
- whether you intend to register as a charity.
We do the rest.
Our price for forming the company is £99.
There
are two basic types of ‘guarantee’ company
- A charity (subject
to rules set down by the Charity Commission).
- Other (not-for-profit
enterprises not intending to be registered charities)
Examples
of not-for-profit companies (other than charities)
- Political organisations
- Residents' Associations
- Sports clubs
- Training institutions
- Trading arms of charities
(NB charities are not
allowed to “permanently trade”*)
- Other kinds of joint projects
