The first step to forming a company is to choose a name and address.

The company name must be unique, which means that the name is not already listed at Companies House.

Some words are not allowed in company names or can only be used subject to certain rules. For guidance on this issue read sensitive words

Your company’s Registered Office can be your home address or your normal trading location. It must be a geographical address (not a PO Box Number).
